Kundenrezensionen zu 'Slacker'
Wichtiger Film fuer Gen-X (13. Oktober 2000)
Not Just a Published Screenplay (17. Juni 2000)
For me, this book brought home with road-to-damascus force the idea that you could shape own own life, and not automatically follow the mind-numbing back-breaking path that your parents and society lay out for you. Not just a published screenplay, this book is full of little nuggets of information about "slacking" and how to do it that will inform and amuse. Thank you, Linklater.Full On Idle (28. März 2000)
When the film "Slacker" opened in 1991, it wasn't long before its director, Richard Linklater, found himself in the spotlight, fielding questions about the generation portrayed in his movie. This enlightening companion book was published a year later and not only addresses some of the media hype surrounding the film, but includes a wealth of additional information, insights, and trivia for fans. There's a brief section on Texas' slacker past, a bit on why Austin was the perfect backdrop for the film, and Linklater describes the ideas that led up to its creation. An early 'roadmap' of the script lays out the basic action of each scene, followed by the full transcription of the final film (which is very handy for quoting the dialogue). There's also actor profiles, providing over 70 entertaining bios of each of the folks who appeared in the movie, as well as a section of notes from the crew. The pages often recall the feel of a fanzine, filled with numerous photos, stills, clip art, and flyers from Austin rock shows and film festivals. The sidebars are peppered with Linklater's diary entries, chronicling the "Slacker" project from the beginning brainstorming stages to the eventual screenings and publicity. All in all, this is a fantastic book for both aspiring directors and devotees of the cult film. The chain smokers, insomniac bible (23. Dezember 1999)
I regret "loaning" this book to another slacker a few years back, who loaned it to yet another slacker, who drifted to the west coast with it et al...never saw it again. But had I kept it I would've memorized many of the passages (Like the UFO conspiricy rant!) - the book is the story behind the making of the brilliant movie, a story which is every bit as entertaining and thought-provoking as the movie itself! It's unfortuante, and a bit odd that the movie is no longer available at the worlds largest shopping mall, Amazon.com. After all, it WAS a watershed movie. Go figure.SLACKER CELEBRATION! (3. April 1999)
If you absolutely MUST make the choice between watching the movie or reading the book of Richard Linklater's brilliant "Slacker, get the book. The book not only contains the entire screenplay but various thoughts from it's creator Richard Linklater, as well as brief material written by such Linklater collaborators as Anne Walker-McBay, Lee Daniel, Clark Walker, and Kim Krizan. The book even has an opening introduction written by "Generation - X" author Douglas Coupland.
This book is an absolute celebration not only of the movie but also of the culture that Linklater has coined a name for.
If you are a fan of Richard Linklater, or if you identify yourself with the characters in "Slacker", then you must obtain this book at any cost!
