Refreshing, and Indian (21. September 2007)
The crisp sounds of Sitar, Santoor and Tabla are stereotypical of Indian music. But it takes effort not to fall into being boringly stereotype. This is a good collection of fusion music that keeps the brain listening for each piece of sound. I must say that this is "fusion music" rather than traditional classical music of India. The title "Mystic India" could be well applied to anything on India - There is nothing Mystical about the music in this album (except track 10 - Namaste which recites the sacred Gayatri Mantra, in a non-traditional way nevertheless). Mystical aspect of India is better reflected in the classical musics - for example Hinduastani classical by maestro like Malikarjun Mansur or Carnatic classical by Maharajapura Santanam. Anyway, just because the title is a cliche, does not mean that the content is bad. A great compilation, good to hear.Super!!! (22. Juni 2004)
Eine wirklich gelungene CD!Auf der Scheibe ist eine wirklich hervorragende Mischung aus klassischer indischer Musik und Lounge-Musik geschaffen worden. Die Interpreten sind hervorragend, die Instrumentalisierung klassisch indische (Sitra, Tabla etc.) und der Background durch Lounge-Rhytmen, Jungle-/Drumm&Bass-Samples fein unterlegt.
Heraus kommt eine Mischung, die ständig Spannungen enthält, interessant ist, aber auch gut im Hintergrund laufen kann. Immer, wenn ich sie bei Partys oder Besuchen von Freunden laufen lasse, werde ich auf die CD angesprochen, jeder war bisher begeistert.
Das alleine sollte schon ein Anzeichen für Euch sein, wie gelungen diese Scheibe ist. Gerade in Zeiten, wo ein Punjabi MC bekannt wird und indische Musik an Popularität bei den DJs gewinnt, ist diese CD ein hervorragendes Album für jedermann.
